For faster post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, the persons must filter out the news. As most of the persons who had COVID-19 become tired swiftly, they should have small breaks during activities and should also manage correctly the daily activities during the rehabilitation period, doctoral student Alina Bologan, university assistant at “N. Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, stated in a webinar titled “Lucid thinking and management of daily activities after COVID-19”, IPN reports.
“If the information about COVID-19 creates particular mental discomfort, we try to avoid even the social networking sites as there is a lot of negative information there,” said Alina Bologan, noting the persons during the post-COVID-19 rehabilitation period will feel tired, will cough persistently and will have breathing problems. They can also have fear, depression, mood and sleeping deriders. It is important to enjoy quietness in the period. Owing to tiredness, the persons in the period cope with the ordinary amount of work with difficulty. The work should be done in stages and help can be sought from other persons.
The persons should have breakfast during an hour after waking up. The lunch should be between 1pm and 2pm and snacks of fruits and vegetables are necessary between the main meals. Dinner should be served four hours before going to sleep. A walk is recommended after dinner.
The family’s support in the period is very important. The first step is for the close ones not to allow the person who had the infection to suffer from mental disorders. These persons should communicate and share their experience with the family, stated Alina Bologan.
Doctoral student Andrei Eșanu, university assistant at the same education institution, said the mental health of a person is manifested by the capacity to realize one’s potential, to work productively, to cope with stress and make contributions to the community. The pandemic is a period of restrictions for everyone. The relatives of some become infected and can die, the economic situation in the country and the family is more difficult and the emotional state is affected, with the persons being concerned about the future and becoming more anxious. The persons can also become sad or isolate and can suffer from depreciation.
To avoid problems related to attentiveness, memory and lucid thinking, the memory should be trained with the help of lists, notes, alerts, with physical exercises that can help the brain to recover, with exercises for brain, such as puzzle games, word and number games or reading. The activities should be classified into stearate groups so as to avoid fatigue.
The event form part of the nationwide campaign “Support for Physical and Psychological Rehabilitation after COVID-19” that is implemented by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection in partnership with the World Health Organization and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
