The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the EU is important for Moldova and it will help work out the country’s development plan, Luc Devigne, the EU’s chief negotiator on the DCFTA, said in a program on Realitatea TV, IPN reports.
Luc Devigne noted that the Customs Union would prevent Moldova from signing agreements with other states, while the EU does not impose such conditions. “Moldova can sign agreements with any country it wants,” stated the negotiator, underlining that the Moldovan producers and exporters are victims of the ban imposed by Russia and the EU is ready to help them.
In the same program, Communist MP Oleg Reidman harshly criticized the Association Agreement with the EU and presented aspects of the DCFTA that he considers are disadvantageous. He said that Moldova must join the Customs Union. “Russia didn’t impose a ban. These are restrictions that had been announced before they were placed on the Moldovan producers and exporters,” he said.
Luc Devigne replied that Oleg Reidman mixes up friendship with marriage, with the Customs Union being the marriage.
