Lower fines for constructions without urbanism certificate and authorization

The fines for erecting buildings without urbanism certificates and construction authorizations have been decreased from 4,000-10,000 lei to 2,000-3,000 lei for private individuals and from 10,000-20,000 lei to 7,000-9,000 lei for economic entities after the new Code of Administrative Offences took effect at end-May. At the same time, the sanctions for violating the legislation and normative construction documents were toughened up, the Ministry of Construction and Territorial Development says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Until now, the fine for violating the normative documents varied between 300 and 500 lei for private individuals and between 800 and 1,500 lei for legal entities. The new regulations provide for fines of 1,200-2,000 lei and 2,000-4,000 lei respectively. The reports on the administrative offences compiled by the State Construction Inspectorate shall be submitted to the relevant court for examination. The Code of Administrative Offences defines the unauthorized construction as erecting of constructions of any kind and carrying out of works to modify, strengthen or repair the buildings without construction authorization as well as the constructions governed by the law on the quality in the construction sector built without the required license.
