The State Hydrometeorological Service forecast temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius for this weekend. Contacted by IPN, forecaster on duty Cristina Popusoi said winter returns with low temperatures owing to a Scandinavian anticyclone that generates cold air.
“We can say that the spring temperatures are not yet close even if we had rather high temperatures in the recent past. There will be mainly joint precipitation – snowfall in the north and center and rain in southern Moldova as the temperatures there continue to be positive,” stated Cristina Popusoi.
In the course of this week, nighttime temperatures in northern Moldova will fall to -20 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures to - 11 degrees Celsius. In the central and southern districts, the temperatures will oscillate between -9 … -10 degree Celsius during the day and - 18 … - 19 degrees Celsius at night.
These temperatures are slightly below the norm for February.
