The largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe Wizz Air on September 24 operated the first flights from Chisinau to Venice and Rome. The passengers will be able to fly to the two Italian towns and back every Tuesday and Saturday. The price of a ticket is €30, with all taxes included, IPN reports.
In the opening of the flights, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that by providing low-cost flights to Italy the Government fulfilled its promise to reduce the prices of plane tickets made three years ago. The Government’s team negotiated the Agreement on the Creation of the Common Airspace with the EU in a record period of three months and the Moldovans can already benefit from this accord.
Italian Ambassador to Moldova Enrico Nunziata said the low charges of Wizz Air will enable the citizens working in Italy to more often visit their families and will serve as a new opportunity for tourists. The partnership between the Moldovan and Italian businessmen will become stronger, including owing to the access to low-cost services.
Wizz Air communication manager Daniel de Carvalho said aircraft Airbus A320 will fly to Venice and Rome and back. She underlined that the initiated cooperation represents an important step both for the company and for Moldova and its people.
The plane tickets for the new flights to Rome and Venice are already on sale and can be reserved on www.wizzair.com for €30 and up.
The Agreement on the Creation of the Common Airspace with the EU and Moldova was signed in Brussels on June 26, 2012. Wizz Air is present in 33 countries and operates over 270 flights.
