About 4 million lei was invested in the reconstruction of a swimming pool of the Chisinau sports complex “Locomotiv” that was closed about 10 years ago. “We repaired the pool during two months. I thank the workers who their contribution,” Vasile Staver, the head of the company that coordinated the project, said at the opening ceremony on May 31, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the water in the pool meets all the sanitary norms. It is pumped from three artesian wells that are at a depth of 50 meters. “The sports complex includes two pools for sportspersons that are also in need of repair, but this problem will be solved over time,” he said. “The people ask me why the swimming pools in Chisinau are not renovated. Now I will tell them that we managed to repair one of the pools of the sports complex “Locomotiv”, Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Ceban said at the opening. Acting President Mihai Ghimpu said that things started to change slowly, but steadily. “All the problems can be solved when there is wish,” he said. “I swam in this pool earlier. The water here is cold, but Urecheanu will bring the son and will warm it up!” Ghimpu joked. This is the largest swimming pool in the country. It is about 120/120 meters in area. On June 1, on the International Children's Day, the entrance will be free of charge. Afterward, a ticket will cost 50 lei for a whole day.
