Prosecutors sent to court the case featuring a locksmith and an unqualified master who are accused of imprudent killing of three persons aged 24, 25 and 21 from Hâncești in October 2019. The young people were found dead in a house, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said that being in a dwelling in Hâncești town to check the functionality of the natural gas heating system that was installed earlier by an unauthorized person, the locksmith allowed this to be put into operation even if it was defective. He knew that the unauthorized person didn’t perform works to appropriately seal the gas emission system.
As a result, a large amount of carbon monoxide accumulated in the house during two days. The victims inhaled a mortal dose of carbon monoxide.
The defendants, aged 36 and 42, plead not guilty. They were earlier both convicted, being given non-custodial sentences. One of them was caught driving under the influence of alcohol, while the second was sentenced for the fabrication, purchase and illegal keeping of drugs. Now they face a maximum jail term of six years.
