Nineteen laws will be rectified with emphasis on the social protection of the population. It is a first step towards implementing the social assistance system reform “Restart”, which was launched by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. The bill to amend a number of normative documents needed for implementing the reform was presented in the Cabinet’s meeting, IPN reports.
This way, there will be amended the law on mandatory health assistance, the Family Code, the law on the Population Support Fund, the social assistance law, the law on social services and others.
The main legislative amendments stipulated in the bill refer to the creation of local social assistance agencies with local social assistance branches. These will take over the duties in the field of social protection from the local public authorities of the second level.
There will be reorganized the method of financing the social assistance sector, the Population Support Fund.
The social assistance system reform “Restart” was launched in March with the aim of promoting the respect for the right to social welfare and protection and of the vulnerable population of Moldova, according to the international human rights standards. The reform aims to ensure the population’s uniform and equitable access to social services of a high quality.
