Local public health councils can access financing for health promotion projects

A program of financing in the form of grants can be accessed by the local public health councils as part of the project “Healthy Life: reduction of burden of noncommunicable diseases”. The grants are offered for projects to change the behavior and promote health in localities. A grant is of about 87,000 lei, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the “Healthy Life” project.

The proposals must match the set national objectives, with emphasis on the needs of a particular community. These can be submitted by the end of this December to the email address info@viatasan.md or can be presented in person to 6 Maria Cibotari  St in Chisinau

The project “Healthy Life: reduction of burden of noncommunicable diseases” offers assistance to personnel and bodies involved in the promotion of health in ten pilot districts. Assistance is also provided to design health profiles at district level and to identify the factors that influence public health in the given communities. Based on health profiles, the local public health councils will develop plans of action that will contribute to diminishing or even eliminating the risk factors.

To help the participants correctly plan their actions, over 60 persons from the local public health councils and representatives of the local public authorities of the districts of Cahul, Criuleni, Taraclia, Vulcănești, Ștefan Vodă, Briceni, Edineț, Fălești, Ungheni, and Orhei took part in two workshops.

The participants learned from international experts of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute about what a project is, how the objectives are set and what results should be expected, how the problems are identified and how the implementation of the project is monitored and assessed, how the financial resources are planned, etc.

The project, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, aims to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of Moldova’s population, especially in rural areas, by reducing the burden of noncommunicable diseases.
