The People’s Assembly of Gagauzia on December 17 adopted the Electoral Code of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia in the first reading. Deputy Ivan Burgudji, one of the authors of the bill, said that this document brings together a number of legal acts that regulate the electoral processes in Gagauzia, IPN reports.
Under the document, a permanent Central Election Commission will be created in Gagauzia. Until now the local electoral authority was constituted only for the electoral period.
The bill authors said that the text of the Electoral Code was submitted to the OSCE and other international organizations for notification.
