Local councilors skipping 3 meetings could lose their seats

The local councilors who will skip without good reason three consecutive meetings of their local councils will lose their seats under a bill that was approved in two readings in Parliament on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. The bill's author Lib-Dem MP Tudor Deliu noted that following the 2007 local elections multiple local councils have worked inefficiently due to lack of quorums. In some administrative units there are councilors who have long since left the country and haven't participated in any meeting of their councils. MP Deliu argued that this amendment will make the activity of local councils more efficient and will improve responsibility among councilors.
