Local councilor from Cimișeni seeks audience with chief anticorruption prosecutor

Ilie Cazac, who serves as local councilor in Cimișeni village of Criuleni district, asks for an audience with the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Veronica Dragalin. He said that he filed multiple complaints about the alleged illegalities of the mayor of the village, but these were ignored at a time when the senior administration calls on the population to denounce cases of corruption.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, Ilie Cazac said that on October 31 he gave a news conference in which he spoke about the acts of corruption committed by the mayor of Cimișeni Valentina Pisarenco. He filed complaints to the police, the prosecutor’s office, the expert parliamentary commission, the National Anticorruption Center and other institutions. “In the Republic of Moldova, they only speak about the necessity of denouncing acts of corruption as those who have relations in the judicial system have the charges against them dropped,” stated Ilie Cazac.

According to him, he first denounced the mayor four years ago. As a result, there were started two criminal cases over appropriation, abuse of office and abuse of power. His approaches failed to produce results so far.

The councilor said the road in the center of the village was to be paved. A tender contest was held based on the local council’s decision and the requirements were formulated. It was decided to allocate the sum of money. Access ways for persons with disabilities were to be built. But the documents were falsified in all these processes and the money was allocated to business entities not by the decision of the council, as the law provides. The road repair deadlines weren’t met even if the money was already transferred to the businessman, who is related to the mayor. The mayor dared to commit such irregularities because she enjoyed the support of district heads.

Ilie Cazac also accused Valentina Pisarenco of using the car of the mayor’s office to take, together with the chief accountant, food products from the local kindergarten on the pretext of transmitting these as food parcels to vulnerable persons during the pandemic. He went to pensioners in the village and these said that they didn’t receive anything from the mayor’s office.

According to him, no end result was achieved as mayor Valentina Pisarenco is on friendly terms with representatives of the police and the prosecutor’s office. The councilor requested the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Veronica Dragalin to accept a meeting with him as he wants to tell her about all the committed illegalities and about the inaction of the bodies that he asked to hold those to blame accountable.
