Local authorities will be empowered to modify urbanistic form

The powers to approve and modify the urbanistic form and will belong not to the Government, but to local councils, as provided by a bill with amendments to a number of pieces of legislation, which was approved by the Cabinet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Regional Development and Construction Marcel Raducan said the amendments extend the powers of the local public authorities. They will have the right to approve urbanistic plans, name streets and provide public services for associations of fruit and vegetable growers.
”There are constructions with the necessary infrastructure on most of the plots owned by the associations of fruit and vegetable growers.In many of them the owners live on a permanent basis. By building rings of this infrastructure, for example of roads, without taking into account the agreed plans, they worsen the urbanistic situation. There appear unauthorized constructions. But the social situation also becomes worse. The children of these owners do not have access to education and medical services. The people cannot get their pensions. By these amendments, we aim to prevent the appearance of serious disputes,” said the minister.
