Local authorities of Pitesti to provide assistance to “Apa Canal Chisinau”

The local authorities from Pitesti will provide assistance to “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC). Two Romanian experts will work for a while with ACC, where they will help the Moldovan specialists work out a new development strategy for the company. The meeting was attended by Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca and Director General of the Romanian Pitesti-based “Apa Canal 2000”, Gelu Mugea. During the meeting, the collocutors referred to the activity of the public utilities providing water, as well as the collection, transport and treatment of wastewater from Pitesti and Chisinau. According to Gelu Mungea, four years ago, the company in Pitesti had a very difficult situation, similar to the one of “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. However, due to the support obtained from the Local Council and to a management based on the implementation of investment projects, the situation has changed and last year the company has registered a profit of over EUR 3 mln. Last year, the company became Romania’s largest water supplier which was certified by the Romanian Quality Society on three standards and was internationally recognised by the International Certification Network. Over the last few years, “Apa Canal 2000” from Pitesti managed to attract several projects with foreign non-refundable financial assistance.
