Liviu Dragnea, who heads the Social Democrat Party (PSD) of Romania, is concerned about the blocking of the loan of €150 million intended for the Republic of Moldova, which was earlier approved by the Ponta Government and ratified by President Klaus Iohannis. Liviu Dragnea made such statement in a press briefing held in concert with the Speaker of Parliament of Moldova Andrian Candu, who is on a working visit to Bucharest, IPN reports.
“We discussed the situation in the Republic of Moldova and understood the dissatisfaction for the fact that the loan approved by us, of €150 million, has been blocked. The Government’s attitude is incorrect. Our neighboring state will need this money in continuation. We haven’t yet understood officially why the Government blocked what we approved. There is also a program to build a large number of kindergartens of the Ministry of Development, which I managed, and this is also blocked. I wanted to assure Mister Candu of all the support of the Social Democratic Party for the good reforms done in Moldova,” stated Liviu Dragnea.
Andrian Candu also provided details about the dialogue with Liviu Dragnea.”We conferred on the situation in Moldova, the parliamentary agenda and the political agenda in general, the results achieved by Moldova, including the restoration of confidence and of political and economic stability. There are the first signals that the relations with the International Monetary Fund are being reestablished. On July 5-15, we are waiting for an IMF mission with the mandate to hold negotiations. We always thank the PSD for their support,” he stated.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu is paying working visits to Bucharest and Brussels during June 13-16. Among the main subjects that will be discussed in the meetings are the strengthening of strategic bilateral partnerships, intensification of interinstitutional cooperation and confirmation of the external support for the Republic of Moldova.
