Lithuanian businessmen willing to invest in Chisinau
Lithuanian businessmen are interested in launching investment projects in Chisinau. The prospects for potential investments were discussed during a meeting between Chisinau General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and a group of business people from Lithuania.
Lithuania’s Ambassador to Moldova Vytautas Zalys, who accompanied the businessmen, said it is for the first time that a group of business people from Lithuania visits Moldova. Referring to the present relations in the areas of trade and economy between Chisinau and Vilnius, Vytautas Zalys stressed the need for increasing the volume of bilateral trade and removing the obstacles hindering the business community.
The Lithuanian businessmen, representatives of large construction and trade companies operating Europewide, stated that they are willing to participate through investments in carrying out projects in Chisinau. In addition, the Baltic entrepreneurs are willing to support the companies in Moldova so that their production reaches the market in Vilnius. In particular, the representatives of the Lithuanian business community showed interest in imports of Moldovan wine.
Mayor Chirtoaca reiterated the readiness of the city authorities to cooperate with potential investors. He named the development of infrastructure, social housing projects, transport, energy systems and environmental projects as priorities for the municipality.
In that connection, the Lithuanian businessmen expressed their interest in launching investment projects in the construction sector, and the mayor handed them the digital version of the Urban General Plan so that they can get acquainted with the projects to be started in Chisinau in the years to come.
