Lithuania on July 28 donates ten firefighting vehicles to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service within a visit by a delegation of the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania to Moldova. The handover was preceded by the signing of an agreement on cooperation and reciprocal assistance in the prevention and response to emergencies, IPN reports.
The vehicles, which will be distributed to local subdivisions, will be used in extrication works, to extinguish fires and in other emergencies.
In a meeting, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan and his Lithuanian counterpart Tomas Zilinskas discussed aspects of the bilateral cooperation, institutional priorities and proposals for increasing mutual support.
Tomas Zilinskas suggested implementing a project of cooperation in the fight against organized crime. “Moldova is a priority country for us. That’s why we will offer all the necessary support in its European integration efforts,” stated the official.
During its two-day visit that will last until July 30, the Lithuanian delegation will have a number of meetings and visits, including to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the General Police Inspectorate and the Forensic Center. It will also meet with Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
