Liter of gasoline will cost over 24 lei Tuesday

The price of gasoline will pass the 24 lei mark. On Tuesday, January 14, drivers will pay 24.12 lei for a liter of gasoline, by 0.22 lei more than today. Meanwhile, the price of diesel fuel will rise by 0.20 lei to 20.88 lei/liter, IPN reports.

In the last two weeks, the fuel prices grew by 3-4%. According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation, the main factors that influenced the fuel prices up are the increase in Platts quotations on international exchanges by about 5%, the increase in fuel excise duties starting with January 1, 2025, by about 7%, the raising by 1.8% of the specific commercial margin applied by oil companies and the depreciation of the national currency against the US dollar by about 1.5%.

In the coming period, the value of excise duties and the specific commercial margin will remain unchanged. Thus, it is estimated that price fluctuations will partially stabilize and will depend only on international fuel quotations and the exchange rate of the national currency.

It is noteworthy that the price of Brent oil on Monday exceeded the mark of 81 USD/barrel, reaching the highest level in the last three months.
