List of compensated drugs will be extended next year

The list of drugs that are compensated by the state will be extended next year and for the first time will include medicines for such rare diseases as bullous dermatitis and hemophilia of type 7, 8 and 9, Minister of Health Andrei Usatii has told Info-Prim Neo. The costs for extending the list of compensated drugs will be increased by 2.9%. According to the minister, emphasis will be laid on the drugs used by patients for a long period of time. The compensation degree will be raised. The price of some medicines will be 100% covered by the state, including drugs for cancer and diabetes. The list will contain seven types of drugs for bronchial asthma, as against one type earlier, as well as a number of psychotropic medications. Andrei Usatii said the spending on compensated drugs will total 171 million lei, which is two times more than in 2010. “Tens of millions of lei will be directed to sick persons who do not have money to buy medicines,” he stated. The draft law on the mandatory health insurance funds for 2013 was passed in Parliament in the first reading last week. The health policy for unemployed persons will cost 3,318 lei, by 336 lei more than last year. The insurance premium calculated in percentage points in relation to the salary and other recompenses remains at the level of 7%, 3.5% of which is paid by the employee and 3.5% by the employer.
