The Ministry of Health intends to include most of the preparations needed for the survival of children born prematurely in the list of compensated drugs over the next 3-5 years, Deputy Minister of Health Mihai Ciocanu said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.
Currently, the list contains 80% of the medicines needed for treating chronic diseases in children. The authorities aim to reach a figure of 100%. Mihai Ciocanu said the financial difficulties do not enable to immediately extend the list of compensated drugs, but assured that the authorities are dealing with the matter.
A premature child can reach sufficient weight for survival during two months. The necessary medicines cost about 200,000 lei. Approximately 1,700 children were born prematurely in Moldova last year.
