USR President Elena Lasconi filed her candidacy for the May presidential elections with Romania's Central Electoral Bureau on Thursday. The validation of her candidacy follows, IPN reports.
"I am not perfect, but I have the courage to do justice. Last year I was the candidate who took the most tests. I failed some, but I learned from my mistakes. I know how to listen and learn. I do it every day. More importantly, I surround myself with people who know better," said Lasconi, quoted by Euronews-Romania.
So far, two candidates have been validated by the Central Electoral Bureau: the independent candidate Nicușor Dan, backed by PMP and Forța Dreptei, and Crin Antonescu, the joint candidate of the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition.
Independent candidate Victor Ponta and S.O.S. Romania candidate Diana Sosoaca are waiting for the validation of their candidacies.
Presidential elections in Romania will take place on May 5. The Romanian diaspora will be able to elect their president on May 2, 3, 4 and 5 at polling stations open in the country they are in.
