The price of liquefied petroleum gas will rise by 0.45- 0.60 lei per liter, counselor on communication at the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) Stela Etsko has told IPN.
Stela Etsko said that four oil companies operating in Moldova informed the Agency about their decision to raise the price of liquefied petroleum gas from October 12. They argued that the import prices increased. From June until September, the price of the liquefied petroleum gas rose from US$608 to US$777 per tonne.
Currently, 1 liter of liquefied petroleum gas at filling stations costs almost 9 lei.
The ANRE cannot intervene in setting the fuel prices, but can issue or withdraw licenses and can monitor the market so as to prevent the operators from exceeding the profit margin of 10%.
