Liliana Palihovici: Moldova will receive assistance from EU depending on results

Moldova will be monitored by the EU and will receive European assistance only based on the results achieved in the process of doing reforms. The Association Agreement with the EU remains a key document that stipulates what Moldova needs to do, Deputy Head of Parliament Liliana Palihovici said after a meeting with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova, Lithuanian MEP Petras Auštrevičius, who is in Chisinau on a visit, IPN reports.

“The EU continues to believe in Moldova’s European perspective and the ball is now in the Moldovan politicians’ court,” stated Liliana Palihovici. She added that Moldova must do the reforms needed by the country so as to change the state of affairs and to restore confidence in politicians and this thing was noted in the meeting.

Petras Auštrevičius didn’t make statements for the press. During his visit, the officials already met with President Nicolae Timofti and the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu. He is yet to have meetings with Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur and will also discuss with MPs and politicians.
