Liliana Palihovich elected PACE vice president

The chairwoman of Moldova’s Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliana Palihovich was elected vice president of the Assembly by a unanimous vote, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the legislative body. In the winter session that started in Strasbourg on January 23, there was discussed the social-political situation in Moldova. Within meetings, the high-rankings officials said they support the democratic development of Moldova and its plenary integration into the EU. Moldova’s Delegation to the PACE will have a meeting with the Assembly’s corapporteurs for Moldova Lise Christoffersen and Piotr Wach. The discussions will center on the monitoring by the Council of Europe of the obligations and commitments assumed by Moldova. On January 26, Liliana Palihovich will have a meeting with the newly elected PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon. French MEP Jean-Claude Mignon was elected President of the PACE on the first day of the session. In his speech, he said that he will actively contribute to the settlement of the frozen conflicts in Europe. There were also elected the vice presidents of the Assembly. The PACE’s winter session will last until January 27.
