Lilian Darii endorsed by Government to become ambassador to Russia

The Government has endorsed the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to recall Lilian Darii from the post of ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and appoint him as ambassador to Russia instead. Darii’s candidacy has also been formally approved by Russia.

Lilian Darii was previously a deputy foreign minister in the Filip Government.

The post of ambassador to Russia fell vacant after the previous holder, the former Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc, was recalled over sexual harassment allegations. Golovatiuc denied any wrongdoing. His predecessor, Andrei Neguța, also left the post in the wake of a scandal, after being accused of facilitating a steroid smuggling scheme.

Also on Wednesday, the Government approved the resignation of Mihail Harabagiu as head of the Inspectorate for Emergencies. He will be replaced by Alexandru Oprea, for a term of five years.

Viorel Cernăuțanu and Daniela Misail-Nichitin were appointed as state secretaries at the Ministry of the Interior, and Vladimir Arachelov received a similar job at the Ministry of Finance.

The economist Tatiana Savva was appointed as deputy director general of the Public Property Agency after winning a selection process held to fill the vacancy.
