A Soldanesti man, 69, died when he was struck by lightning Thursday evening after two fatal lightning incidents just a day before. A spokesperson for the Civil Protection Service has told Info-Prim Neo a storm that began on Thursday evening caught the man unprotected in the middle of an open field. His body marked by skin burns was found later by fellow villagers. Hundreds of crop fields planted with wheat, corn and sunflower have been affected by heavy rains over the past two days. Damages are yet to be estimated. More than 40 locations in the districts of Ungheni, Falesti, Glodeni, Hancesti and Telenesti remained in blackout. Weather men warn heavy rainfall accompanied by electrical discharges are expected to batter Moldova in the following hours.
