The lighting killed two men during the storms of July 23 in the country's North and Center. The press officer of Civil Protection and Emergency Service, Tatiana Corceac, has told Info-Prim Neo a man aged 38 from Popestii de Sus village, Drochia, was in the field when the storm began. He was found dead later in the same place, as his clothes and body showed signs specific of the lightning action. A 61-year-old man from Soldanesti hidden from rain under a tree which was hit by the lightning. The man died at once. The lightning striking through the window flared up the fire in a house in Soroca town. The firemen contained the flames, as the window and some furniture burnt. The meteorologists announce rains and electrical discharges for the coming days in Moldova. As the storm begins, one should avoid hiding next to hills, trees, power pillars, clay or ferrous soils. Firemen recommend to be as close as possible to the ground, but not to spread on it, as electricity may appear between the legs and the head that can affect the heart and brain.
