The traditions, customs and occupations of the Polish people in Moldova were displayed at an exhibition of photographs by Mateusz Mularski. The exhibit entitled “The Poles in Moldova” was opened by the Polish Embassy in Chisinau on April 5, 2016, IPN reports.

Polish Ambassador Artur Michalski said the exhibition represents the life of the Polish people who have lived in Moldova for centuries.  “We want to note that they are also part of this country - an element of the cultural mosaic in Moldova. It is not a large minority, but it is historical and important, which keeps the traditions, culture, faith,” he stated.

The author of the exhibition said he fell in love with Moldova, which he considers a beautiful country. “You have some unique landscapes. It is an interesting country, especially for artists, for photographers,” noted Mateusz Mularski.

Director of the Municipal Library “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” Mariana Harjevschi said the exhibition represents a trip to the Moldovan regions depicted through the photographer’s outlook. “It’s wonderful to realize that what others see and feel is not reduced to “Yes, I like it” and they see everything through their own emotions. They even want those around to have the same emotions. This is probably what photographer Mateusz Mularski wanted too,” she stated.

Head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Culture Division Lucia Culev said that if rankings of the cultural events organized in concert with other states were compiled, Poland would come in first by its cultural and educative activities in Moldova.

Mateusz Mularski is a director of documentaries, photographer, reporter and animator of culture. The exhibition “The Poles in Moldova” will continue for three weeks.
