A 51-year-old man is to spend the rest of his life in prison as he was convicted of murder committed with particular cruelty. He killed a woman who allegedly insulted him because he was not able to have sexual relations with her, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the murder was committed on the evening of April 9, 2024 in Ceadâr-Lunga town. The defendant reacted violently after the victim allegedly insulted him. He grabbed the woman by the neck and strangled her. After that, he caused a number of injuries in the intimate area.

“The main reason for requesting such a punishment by the prosecutor was the fact that the defendant was previously tried and convicted of a series of crimes, including murder. Also, his illegal actions were directed against a woman and were committed with particular cruelty,” reads a press release.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
