Life expectancy in Moldova reached a record high last year – 71.9: 68.1 for men and 75.6 for women, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the National Bureau of Statistics.
The rise in the life expectancy was influenced by the decline in the general death rate to 10.7 deaths per 1,000 people and in infant mortality to 9.4 deaths per 1,000 babies aged under one. Women live by 7.5 years on average longer than men.
The average length of life of the people living in urban areas was by 3.3 years longer than of those from rural areas, both among men and women.
