Lidia Isac to represent Moldova at Eurovision

Lidia Isac will represent the Republic of Moldova at the 61th Eurovision Song Contest that will take place in the Swedish capital Stockholm, IPN reports.

Thus, as a result of the jury’s and viewers’ vote, Lidia Isac scored 20 points. She won over 8,300 votes from the viewers, which is equal to 12 points. The jury offered Lidia Isac 8 points.

Lidia Isac will sing the song “Falling stars” in the first semifinal on May 10. If she qualifies for the next stage, she will compete in the Eurovision final on May 14.

The national final included 16 singers. Among the favorite of the audience was the band DoReDoS, which goy by almost 100 votes fewer than Lidia Isac. The jury gave 12 points to singer Valeria Pasa and 10 points to Cristina Pintilie.

Moldova achieved the best result at Eurovision in 2005, when the band “Zdob si Zdub” ranked sixth with the song “Boonika bate doba” (“Grandmamma beats the drum”).

In 2015, Moldova’s representative at Eurovision, Ukrainian singer Eduard Romanyuta failed to qualify for the final held in Vienna.
