Licurici Theatre hosts the exhibition entitled “Astrid Lindgren and Children Rights”

The exhibition entitled “Astrid Lindgren and Children Rights” was launched on Wednesday, September 12, at the National Puppet Theatre “Licurici” in Chisinau. The exhibition will take place during September 12-28 and will comprise a number of events organised by the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Embassy in Bucharest, the National Library for Children “Ion Creanga”, UNICEF Moldova, the National Puppet Theatre “Licurici” and Teleradio-Moldova Company, with the financial support of the Government and the Chisinau City Hall. The program includes a presentation of the film “Away from the home-country” - showing the life and work of Astrid Lindgren, a drawing contest entitled “I want to play”, a meeting with author Spiridon Vangheli – the translator of the book “Pippi Longstocking”, a literary workshop named “Every child can write a poem” and other activities. A workshop entitled “The role of literature in promoting children rights” will also bring together various librarians, teachers and authors. The exhibition dedicated to the famous Swedish children’s book author Astrid Lindgren is part of the project of promoting children rights and cultural products designed for children, carried out by the Swedish Institute since 2003. The author of the book “Pippi Longstocking” was chosen as the symbol of this project because during her whole activity she pleaded for an equal treatment of children by adults, as well as for satisfying the specific needs of this age.
