Licensed entrepreneurs may be allowed to buy metals from individuals

The parliamentary groups of PLDM and PL proposed a bill that would allow licensed entrepreneurs to collect and buy ferrous and non-ferrous waste from individuals throughout Moldova. One of the project's authors, Veaceslav Ionita, told Info-Prim Neo that the measure aims at fighting ghost firms. “The lack of regulations on this market allowed the emergence of these ghost firms, and the withdrawal of tens of millions of lei from the State Budget. We want to bring legislative clarity, to reduce the risk of newly emerging ghost firms on this market”, said Veaceslav Ionita. Licensed entrepreneurs will also be able to collect industrial waste, which contain metals or alloys, as well as used car bateries. The MPs also propose to exempt following wastes from VAT: paper and cardboard residue, rubber, plastic, glass shards, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, industrial residue that contains metals or their alloys – purchased on the territory of Moldova by licensed entrepreneurs. Currently, it is prohibited to collect and buy ferrous and non-ferrous metals from individuals, except used car batteries.
