License suspension for speeding +60 km/h over limit

Drivers going faster by 60 km/h over the legal limit will have their licenses suspended, under an amendment proposed by the Ministry of the Interior and adopted by Parliament on Thursday.

Not yielding to pedestrians and cyclists will also carry harsher punishments: the number of penalty points will increase from 4 to 5, and the fine from 30 to 36 conventional units.

Additionally, in the case of a traffic violation where the culprit is unknown, he or she will have 60 days to admit to the violation, or else the vehicle’s owner will be held responsible.

Meanwhile, some penalties have become milder. For example, the option of a warning is introduced for disregarding road markings, in addition to fines.
