Library Bus will travel to settlements to promote reading

The National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” is launching the first mobile library called the Bibliobus (Library Bus). A minibus with over 1,000 books on board will travel to towns and villages to promote reading among the Moldovan children. The project “Bibliobus” incorporates two national projects supported by the Government: “Mobile LIbrray” and “Moldova’s children read a book”, IPN reports.

Attending the launch of the mobile library, writer Arcadie Suceveanu named this bus the wonder of the technology of the 21st century. “It’s now the opposite – the library goes to the children. I wish you to keep the curiosity of reading,” he stated.

MP and poet Ion Hadarca said that all the children are writers’ children and the writers belong to the children. Memory is in the book, which provides wisdom and imagination.

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said that all the children of Moldova will benefit from this library. “It is already an important step that makes the writers to write for children and the children to read their books,” she stated.

The organizers said that by a writer will go on every trip by the Library Bus to the Moldovan settlements.

The “Mobile Library” is financed by the Government of Moldova and the Embassy of Japan through the Kusanone Project. The book stock was supplemented by bestseller.md with 600 electronic books and other donations of printed books.
