The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu called again on the inhabitants of Chisinau and the suburban settlements to boycott the November 19 referendum on the dismissal of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality. In a news conference on November 17, Ghimpu said he is convinced that the referendum will fail, IPN reports.
According to Mihai Ghimpu, the citizens of Chisinau will support Dorin Chirtoaca as he did a lot for the capital city and should be allowed to complete his duties. The costs incurred by the Socialists to promote the referendum are much higher than those reported to the Central Election Commission.
“According to our calculations, the Socialists spent almost 10 million lei in this campaign and this money is of a doubtful origin. Therefore, we will notify the Central Election Commission and the Prosecutor Generals’ Office so that they verify the origin of this money and determine why it was hidden by the Socialists,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
“The old and approved instrument – the lie - was the Socialists’ argument. The Socialists used the whole array of lies to be able to convince the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality to leave their homes and go to the referendum this Sunday,” said the deputy chairman of the Liberal Party Valeriu Munteanu.
