Liberals suggest reducing powers of economic courts

The Liberal Party (PL) drafted a bill whereby the powers of the economic courts are diminished, the party’s leader Mihai Ghimpu announced Monday. He criticized the decision passed by the Constitutional Court last week, saying the PL’s bill empowers the common law courts to examine the economic cases, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Ghimpu also said that the amendments to the Civil Procedure Code were discussed with the other components of the Alliance for European Integration, which accepted them. Following a challenge submitted by Communist lawmakers, the Constitutional Court ruled that the law by which the specialized courts were liquidated, including the economic ones, was unconstitutional. The leaders of the ruling alliance criticized this decision, saying it was adopted based on certain interests.
