Liberals, National Liberals are 'a threat to Moldovan society'

Communist MP Grigore Petrenco has described the activity of rightist parties, in particular the Liberal Party and the National Liberal Party, as “a threat to Moldovan society” for their intention to “falsify history and create a crack in our society”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Talking at a conference dedicated to “The Threat of Fascism in Modern Europe”, Grigore Petrenco in particular stated: “There are forces like those led by (Liberal Mihai) Ghimpu that represent a threat of neo-fascism, which occurs today all over Europe. And this includes all the extreme-right, ultra-nationalistic forces which are the result of the global economic and social crisis. Some of them are present in the government, like the Liberal Party, and some are outside of the government, like the National Liberal Party”. Petrenco further declared the the European leftist parties would consolidate their efforts and develop a plan to counter the extreme-right forces. Among the guests at the conference was Russian Ambassador to Moldova Valeri Kuzmin, who noted that Europe was going “through a profound crisis of the liberal-capitalistic ideology”. “If we are to label the pro-fascist ideologies, which are based on lies, as an alternative to the liberal and capitalistic ones, we can see that such a trend does exist and let me say that I personally encountered such situations, for example, at a meeting with the students at a Moldovan university. Therefore I hope that the Party of the European Left can be a constructive alternative to the liberal crisis”, stated Kuzmin. The conference was organized by the Moldovan Party of Communists together with the Party of the European Left, bringing together participants from Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
