Liberals against holding presidential elections on March 15
The Liberal lawmakers did not accept holding presidential elections on March 15, as the Democratic Party proposed, and left the assembly hall, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Liberal parliamentary group calls on the MPs to have common sense and postpone setting the date of the presidential elections for a week. We will not vote for holding presidential elections if we do not know the candidates for the presidency,” said Liberal lawmaker Corina Fusu. She added it was dangerous to fix the date of the elections without identifying a candidate within the ruling alliance.
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic group Valeriu Strelet said the Libl-Dems are in favor of holding elections on March 15, while the head of the Democratic group Dumitru Diacov suggested discussing this subject again in the February 17 sitting.
