The Liberal Party (PL) does not support the idea of fielding a common candidate of the pro-European parties for the mayoralty of Chisinau municipality. According to the party, the only candidate of Vlad Plahotniuc can be agreed by the PDM only with those parties with which this united on the Chisinau Municipal Council against Dorin Chirtoaca, IPN reports.

In a comment on a social networking site, the PL says that only two months before the local elections of 2015, by order of Vlad Plahotniuc, the Democratic Party, the Party of Socialists, the Party of Communists, the European People’s Party of Moldova and Our Party united on the Chisinau Municipal Council in order to block the work of the mayor, including by organizing referendums on his dismissal. As they saw they do not manage to achieve their goal, they arrested and suspended the mayor and named their representative as acting mayor.

“When the PDM, PSRM and the others usurped the power in Chisinau, did they ask the pro-European parties what will happen to Chisinau?!” asked the PL.
