Liberal Party granted one more seat on Standing Bureau

The Liberal Party obtained one more seat on the Parliament’s Standing Bureau and has now two seats. The parliamentary majority on November 1 passed a draft decision to increase the number of Bureau members from 13 to 14, which was proposed by Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu. Mihai Ghimpu will work on the Standing Bureau alongside Ion Hadarca, who was designated earlier, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Standing Bureau is formed of members of the parliamentary groups according to their proportional representation in the legislature. The Liberal-Democratic group, which includes 31 lawmakers, and the Democratic faction, which is composed of 15 MPs, have by four and, respectively, three representatives on the Standing Bureau. The Liberal group with 12 lawmakers had only one representative on the Bureau until now. “The parliamentary groups are now not proportionally represented on the Standing Bureau,” Valeriu Munteanu said before the voting. Communist MP Sergiu Sarbu proposed that the other factions should withdraw by a representative from the Bureau so as to reduce costs. But his proposal was rejected. Unaffiliated lawmaker Vadim Misin said that no other country has a Standing Bureau with an even number of members. According to him, the Bureau should consist either of 13 or of 15 members. His proposal was accepted only by six MPs.
