Liberal Party against integrated history course in schools
The Liberal Party (PL) condemns the anti-constitutional and antinational policy promoted by the communist government and intends to proceed against the order of the Ministry of Education and Youth of Moldova regarding the abusive introduction in schools of the integrated history course, is said in the Declaration regarding the anti-constitutional introduction of the communist ideology as an official policy in Moldova.
The authors of Declaration say that by replacing the “Romanian History” course with that of “Integrated History”, the communist government continues its soviet and antiscientific policy of “moldovenism”, which violates the 5th article of the constitution which stipulates “that not a single ideology can be instituted as state’s official”. At the same time, PL say, the Communists’ Party promotes an USSR-like policy, which killed thousands of Moldovans after occupying Basarabia in 1940, only for the fact that they were considering themselves Romanians and were against the soviet doctrine, which included the creation of the “Moldovan nation”, in order to justify the “liberation” and forming MSSR.
In the Declaration is also said that, instead of increasing wages and pensions, the Government spends public money for creating historic fakes, make teachers and students accept, like in soviet dictatorship, incorrect interpretation of historical documents and events, generating in this way a crime against history, Moldovan Romanians, and taking from them their inalienable right to know their history and national identity.
PL makes common cause with the teachers and students of “Mihai Viteazul” Lyceum, rejects teaching fake history and calls on teachers and students of other lyceums and schools to support the initiative of “Mihai Viteazul” Lyceum on fighting against involving politics into national history, undermining history truth and popularizing soviet ideology of moldovenism.
Previously, the Association of Historians of the Republic of Moldova called on all teachers, parents, students, civil society and political parties which support democracy in Moldova to actively involve in counteracting antinational and antidemocratic actions of the communist government in education, to fearlessly reject the integrated history text books. AIM plans to organize on September 30 the general Assembly of Historians, soliciting the City Hall to authorize a protest action.
