Liberal MPs want special sitting on April 7, 2009 events
The parliamentary group of the Liberal Party asked convening a special sitting of Parliament where to listen to reports on the elucidation of the April 7, 2009 events, compiled by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Security and Information Service, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Corina Fusu said the Liberal group would like this sitting to take place next week, on May 24 and 25. “These are the requirements of the Council of Europe and the European Union. On May 29, there will be held the 15th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, where the Moldovan delegation will report on the developments after April 5,” stated the Liberal lawmaker.
The mass protests against the April 5 election outcome staged on April 7, 2009 degenerated into riots that resulted in casualties, the devastation of the Parliament and Presidential Buildings, acts of violence and use of torture. All the attempts to elucidate the circumstances and identify the organizers of the events failed.
