Liberal MPs submitted most of legislative initiatives, study

The members of the Liberal parliamentary group put forward the largest number of legislative initiatives, while the Communist lawmakers submitted most of the challenges and inquiries, shows a study presented by experts of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul” on February 22, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the study, the Liberals filed 29 legislative initiatives, the Liberal-Democratic MPs – 25, the Communists – 20, while the Democratic lawmakers – only 14. According to IDIS expert Veaceslav Berbeca, the Liberal MPs are leaders by legislative efficiency as many of their initiatives were legal, technical or procedural. The Communists put forward 49 challenges and inquiries, the Lib-Dems – 22, the Democrats – 8, while the Liberals – 7. Political expert Veaceslav Berbeca said that through the MPs became more active, many lawmakers are absent from the legislative process. “Sixteen MPs never took part in parliamentary debates while 12 of the lawmakers submitted no question or proposal. This points to lack of interest,” said the expert. The efficiency of the work of the legalities body was assessed during the autumn-winter session of September-December 2011. The assessment report was compiled by IDIS experts Eduard Tugui, Veaceslav Berbeca, and Ion Tabarta. The process was coordinated by the Institute’s vice director eonid Litra.
