Liberal lawmaker Valeriu Saharneanu admitted that the Liberal Party cared for the acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who heads the Liberal Democratic Party, but they cannot forgive him for withdrawing from the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. Related statements were made in the public debate “Culture of the political crisis: realities, necessities and norms” that was staged by IPN on March 19.
”How can we forget Filat? Give us reasons to forgive him! Shall we bring a group of priests? We heard how he gave orders by phone. In a civilized country, a politician would have quit for this. We loved and defended him, but cannot forgive him. There is no communication. We supported Mister Filat, but credibility is needed within the alliance. When an agreement is reached, the partners must be sure that they will not be betrayed,” said Valeriu Saharneanu.
He also said that Vlad Filat, who caused the political crisis, should analyze his acts and determine where he was wrong. If he transmits a message to his former colleagues, he may be understood. “He has to implement reforms, to manage the country, but we center on scandals. We lose time and don’t move on. Responsibility towards the state should come first, followed by the responsibility towards the party and the personal responsibility,” stated Valeriu Saharneanu.
The Liberal MP considers that a political crisis in a society like the Moldovan one leads to transparency and things should not be exaggerated. What they should do is to draw conclusions.
The debate “Culture of the political crisis: realities, necessities and norms” is the 13th of a series of public debates organized by IPN News Agency within the project “Development of political culture by public debates”, which is supported by Hanns Seidel Foundation
