Liberal MP seeks to cap markup on plant protection products
Liberal Party (PL) parliamentarian Valeriu Munteanu proposes capping the markup on plant protection products and fertilizers at 25% of the import price or the local supply price, Info-Prim Neo.
If the legal initiative is supported, plant protection products and fertilizers will be sold at a price no more than 25% more expensive than the import price or of the local producer’s price.
MP Valeriu Munteanu says that in order to ensure a modern agriculture, farmers must be encouraged by offering them plant protection products and fertilizers at an affordable price. “In order to provide quality agricultural products, the state will adjust the prices for plant protection products and fertilizers to the social realities. Considering this, we propose that the markup for these products should be of no more than 25% of the supply price”, said the MP.
Valeriu Munteanu thinks that legal regulations are needed regarding the state subsidies for buying fertilizers, as well as additional financial means to cope with the difficult economic situation.
The range of plant protection products and fertilizers in Moldova includes 400 trade names.
