The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu calls on the investigation bodies to hasten the examination of the case of death of the mayor of Sangera town Mihai Lari, who was found dead in his home this July. In a news conference given together with the mayor’s sons, the Liberal leader said there are too many questions in this case, but the law enforcement agencies haven’t yet provided an answer, IPN reports.
Mihai Ghimpu said two months have passed since the mayor died, but it is not yet clear if this was murder or suicide. Neither the medical-legal examination has been yet performed. This could be a murder by order as there was found no bullet. Traces of blood were found on the car parked in the yard, at a distance of 5 meters.
“I would not like to believe that someone powerful, from among politicians, is involved as an answer to all the questions would have been provided in two months, especially because the absence of the bullet hinders the experts from determining the used gun. No one heard gunfire, including those from the house and the neighbors, and this is strange. The delay arouses suspicions,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
Mihai Lari’s sons said their father didn’t have reasons to kill himself. They refuse to believe that it was suicide, as the investigators maintain. Before their father’s death, they saw drones flying above their house for several times.
Mihai Lari was found dead in his home on July 30. It is presumed that the mayor killed himself with the gun he held legally. Legal action was started over persuasion to commit suicide.
Mihai Lari, 55, was chosen mayor of Sangera in the local elections of 2015, on the ticket of the Liberal Party. Earlier, he held the post of mayor of the town as well. Before the elections, he served in the Transport Division of the Chisinau Municipal Council.
