The parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party registered a bill to amend the Law on Civil Status Documents and cheapen the costs and simplify the procedures for obtaining the succession certificate, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the party, the informative note to the bill says the given procedures are dealt with by a notary, who issues the succession certificate. To get such a certificate, the possible heirs must present a number of documents to the notary, including a certificate about the last place of residence of the testator.
Currently, the death certificate is issued free by the local Civil Status Service subordinated to the Ministry of Justice. This contains information about the last place of residence of the dead person. On the other hand, the certificate about the last place of residence is issued by the local offices of the state-run Information Resources Center “Registru” for a sum of up to 240 lei, depending on the period during which this is issued. If the succession procedures are not completed during six month, the certificate is issued repeatedly at the same price.
The bill provides for the exclusion of the certificate about the last place of residence of the testator from the list of documents required by a notary and is designed to save time and money.
