Liberal-Democrat MPs are ready to renounce parliamentary immunity, Vlad Filat

“The Liberal-Democrat lawmakers are ready to renounce the parliamentary immunity following the untruthful accusations made by Valeriu Zubko against MPs and Cabinet members. We have nothing to hide and I hope that the colleagues from the alliance – the PL and PDM – will do the same,” the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said Monday after a meeting of the party’s active members, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Filat said all the statements and accusations concerning protectionism made by Valeriu Zubko are nothing but lies, but the telling of lies by persons holding responsible positions is penalized. He also said they will continue to demand that the prosecutor general be dismissed. ”For me, citizen Valeriu Zubko is not prosecutor general because 69 lawmakers voted in favor of withdrawing the political support. The speech he delivered in Parliament provided one more reason for dismissing him. We need functional institutions. The political aspect should disappear, especially from the work of the law enforcement bodies,” stated Vlad Filat. According to him, the Liberal-Democrat MPs, in the November 3 sitting of the legislature, will put forward a bill allowing the Speaker to initiate the procedure for discharging the prosecutor general. “A decision can be taken by voting. 51 votes are needed and I hope the colleagues from the AEI will vote for the PLDM’s bill,” said Vlad Filat. The Liberal-Democrat leader demanded dismissing Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko on October 13, arguing he acted nonprofessionally in the case of the raider attacks on banking institutions.
