The councilors of the Liberal Party on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) criticize acting mayor Silvia Radu for the way in which she organized the snow clearing, saying the situation continues to be disastrous one week of the last snowfall. The Liberals said the suspended mayor Dorin Chirtoaca after the heavy snowfalls of last April managed to unblock the city within less than 24 hours with the same resources, IPN reports.

The leader of the Liberal councilors on the CMC Ion Cebanu told a news conference that the layer of salt in the yard of the Chisinau City Hall is two fingers thick, while in most of the yards of apartment buildings, except for the main arteries, the situation is serious and no salt or sand was spread there. Over 260 persons suffered traumas when falling on ice. “Things are not managed appropriately from here, the City Hall. Missis Radu is the first to be blamed for the hundreds of falls and traumas and for the situation in the suburbs,” he stated.

Ion Cebanu noted it is not about politics, but about professionalism and the acting mayor lacks this. “It happens so when you do not work systemically and do not know where you are,” he said. He wondered where those grumbling persons who always accused the suspended mayor Dorin Chirtoaca are now. “In several months, the acting mayor managed to bring the situation in the municipality to a deplorable state and, if things go on like this, all the subdivisions of the City Hall and the whole city will be brought to their knees,” said the Liberal.

Ion Cebanu also said the fact that no contracts were signed with providers of snow removal and anti-icing services, like the road maintenance company “Exdrupo”, is another problem. This happens at a time when Silvia Radu reproached other functionaries for this.
